About

MeHoney-Do Kitchen is a project chronicling the baking escapades of me (Clare). This blog involves lots of good food, lots of messes, and the occasional kitchen disaster. I’m a newly-wed, a fruit lover, a wine drinker, freckle-faced, and definitely a connoisseur of queso. I work in politics by day, and bake by night.

JustinMy husband, Justin, likes to hunt, watch sports, and fish, and of course, to eat good food. He is a biomedical engineer and enjoys trying to “out-whataburger” his coworkers by taking awesome dinner-leftovers for lunch every day. We both like going out to eat and watching reruns of “Friends.” We live in a small apartment with a Dog and a Cat and a whole lot of cookbooks, few of which we use – but that doesn’t stop me from buying more.

Honey-Do Kitchen started as a place to post the yummy recipes that I stumbled across, but now it is not only going to be a chronicle of all my kitchen adventures, it’s also going to be an attempt to reconcile myself with food. I grew up an excessively picky eater – we’re talkin things like refusing to eat guacamole because it’s green. Turns out, I love guacamole! So this is going to be a blog in which I learn to like food – all kinds of food. I might even try venison some day, which would thrill my husband. So, stick around, try some of the recipes, say ‘hi’ in the comments section, and join me in learning to enjoy eating. Afterall, as Julia Child said, “The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.”

Most recently, Honey Do Kitchen got a little makeover a while ago with a new banner thanks to Tracy Green – she is SERIOUSLY a rock-star! Check out her website here and see how awesome she is. This is the banner she made me (which I used for quite a while):

Clare, your blog is the cutest thing in the whole world! I love the new idea. Might I suggest you try to eat sushi (and like it) because I’m convinced that there is no way to enjoy it :)

Haha, I’ll work on the Sushi thing Sally. I started slowly with shrimp rolls (which are delish), but I’m thinking I can slowly work my way in the raw direction… you know, build up to it or something

You KNOW you don’t have to start with raw sushi!
Some of my favorite sushi is deep-fried, which is… cooked, yes?
Try Geisha House on 6th Street or Maru on Burnet Road… those are good places for sushinubes :)

btw I love and miss you! This blog is as adorable as you always were

I tried a seared tuna steak the other day, and it was super delicious, and sort of raw. But you’re right, I’m definitely not starting with actual raw sushi. Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll definitely give them a try sometime. And, I miss you and love you too! We will definitely have to get together and reconnect sometime soon, maybe over sushi!

We must be kindred spirits. I am also a newlywed, blogging about my newest kitchen creations. You are definitely invited to stop by and have a look at feeding farley!
